\section {Obtaining \ArabTeX}

The \ArabTeX\ system is available from the author's institution
(by anonymous FTP from
\hbox{\tt ftp.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de (129.69.211.2)},
in the directory \hbox{\tt pub/arabtex})
and from many other common servers, e.g. the CTAN network
(Aston, Niord, Stuttgart).
The files may be transferred individually or as a package:
\hbox{\tt arabtex.zip} for PC systems,
\hbox{\tt arabtex.tar.Z} for U*IX systems;
we recommend to get and inspect the {\tt README} file first.
Successfull operation on the Apple Macintosh in conjunction with Oz\TeX\
has also been reported.

At the time of this writing, version

The Nasta`liq font is still under development;
Naskh will be substituted automatically.
Version 2 is downward compatible;
