# Bleu.js

> **Note:** Bleu.js is an advanced Python package for quantum-enhanced computer vision and AI. Node.js subprojects (plugins/tools) are experimental and not part of the official PyPI release. For the latest stable version, use the Python package from PyPI.

## Installation

### **Basic Installation (Recommended)**
```bash
pip install bleu-js
```

### **With ML Features**
```bash
pip install "bleu-js[ml]"
```

### **With Quantum Computing**
```bash
pip install "bleu-js[quantum]"
```

### **Full Installation**
```bash
pip install "bleu-js[all]"
```

### **Troubleshooting**
If you encounter dependency conflicts, try:
```bash
# Use virtual environment
python3 -m venv bleujs-env
source bleujs-env/bin/activate
pip install bleu-js
# Or use constraints
pip install "bleu-js[ml]" --constraint requirements-basic.txt
```

## 🔹 Key Updates in v1.1.4

---

### Enhanced XGBoost Model Handling

- The model is now **loaded safely** with **exception handling** and **feature validation**
- Optimized **error handling** ensures smooth execution in production

### Improved Feature Preprocessing

- Features are now **auto-adjusted** to match the model's expected input dimensions
- **Padding logic** ensures that missing features do not break predictions

### Multi-threaded Predictions

- Predictions now run on **separate threads**, reducing blocking behavior and improving **real-time inference** speed

### Hyperparameter Optimization with Optuna

- Uses **Optuna** to find the **best hyperparameters** dynamically
- Optimized for **higher accuracy, faster predictions, and better generalization**

### Performance Optimization Improvements

- Enhanced test suite organization with **extracted helper functions** for better maintainability
- Improved event handling with dedicated **waitForOptimizationEvents** utility
- Reduced function nesting depth for better code readability

### Apple Silicon (M-series) GPU Acceleration

The system now supports hardware acceleration on Apple Silicon Macs using Metal Performance Shaders (MPS):

- **Automatic Device Selection**: Seamlessly switches between CPU and MPS based on availability
- **Performance Boost**: Achieves significant speedup for neural network operations
- **Memory Efficiency**: Optimized memory management for GPU operations
- **Example Usage**:
  ```python
  # Check MPS availability
  device = torch.device("mps" if torch.backends.mps.is_available() else "cpu")
  # Move model and tensors to device
  model = model.to(device)
  inputs = inputs.to(device)
  # Run inference
  outputs = model(inputs)
  ```

For a complete example of MPS acceleration, see `examples/mps_acceleration_demo.py`.

#### MPS Acceleration Benchmark Results

Recent benchmark tests on Apple Silicon (M-series) hardware showed:

```
Hardware Configuration:
- MPS (Apple Metal) available: True
- MPS built: True
Test Configuration:
- Model: SimpleNN (3-layer neural network)
- Input size: 32 x 100
- Output size: 32 x 10
- Training iterations: 1000
- Optimizer: Adam (lr=0.001)
Results:
- CPU Training Time: 1.10 seconds
- MPS Training Time: 5.05 seconds
- Current Speedup: 0.22x
Note: The current implementation shows better performance on CPU for this small-scale model.
For optimal MPS performance, consider:
- Increasing batch size (currently 32)
- Using larger models
- Processing more data in parallel
- Adding more compute-intensive operations
```

These results highlight the importance of model size and computational complexity in leveraging GPU acceleration effectively.

### Advanced Model Performance Metrics

- The training script now tracks **Accuracy, ROC-AUC, F1 Score, Precision, and Recall**
- **Feature importance** analysis improves explainability

### Scalable Deployment Ready

- The model and scaler are saved in **pkl format** for easy integration
- Ready for **cloud deployment** and **enterprise usage**

   ## Quantum Benchmarking and Case Studies

### Running Case Studies

#### Run Specific Case Studies

1. **Medical Diagnosis Study**:
```bash
python -m src.python.ml.benchmarking.cli --medical
```

2. **Financial Forecasting Study**:
```bash
python -m src.python.ml.benchmarking.cli --financial
```

3. **Industrial Optimization Study**:
```bash
python -m src.python.ml.benchmarking.cli --industrial
```

#### Run All Case Studies
```bash
python -m src.python.ml.benchmarking.cli --all
```

#### Additional Options
- `-v, --verbose`: Enable detailed logging
- `-o, --output-dir`: Specify output directory for results (default: "results")

### Example Output
```bash
# Running all case studies with verbose output
python -m src.python.ml.benchmarking.cli --all -v -o my_results
# Results will be saved in:
# - my_results/medical_diagnosis_results.csv
