Welcome to ecadlib
ecadlib turns a BOM into a checked parts library for Altium and KiCad. Nothing is in this workspace yet. Three ways to start:
- Try it with a sample BOM: seven common parts, built from ecadlib's own standard parts. Offline, no API key, about a minute.
- Drop your own BOM anywhere on this page (CSV or XLSX from Altium, KiCad or a spreadsheet).
- Run the setup check to see which part sources and tools are ready.
Team users
Viewers read everything; librarians run triage, the librarian, exports and release-check overrides; approvers also sign off parts and push to Altium 365; admins also manage users and the library rules. Changes apply at once.

1Check a BOM
Past BOM checks
| BOM | Finished (UTC) | By | Lines | Status |
|---|
| # | Ref | MPN | Package | Status | Local symbol / footprint | Source sym / fp / 3D | Notes |
|---|
2Fill the library
Finds every missing symbol and footprint (official KiCad libraries, then EasyEDA, then the datasheet), converts them to Altium files and checks each part before release. Parts that fail a check are held back from Altium 365 until you look at them.
3Send to Altium
Pick one way in: a database library (DbLib) you open in Altium Designer, plain .SchLib / .PcbLib files, or managed components in an Altium 365 workspace.
Database library (DbLib)
Writes parts.sqlite, parts.xlsx and two .DbLib files for this BOM. Open a .DbLib in Altium Designer; the SQLite one needs the SQLite3 ODBC driver, the Excel one needs the Access database engine.
Altium library files
Converts this BOM's footprints from your KiCad libraries to .PcbLib and writes generic Resistor and Capacitor .SchLib symbols. Footprints you approve here get a .PcbLib automatically.
Altium 365 workspace
Plans one managed component per part. A part is ready once its .SchLib and .PcbLib exist.
Your library
Your parts in every tool you use. Pick a tool to see your library as it is there, when each part last changed and who changed it, or compare all tools side by side. Your own library files are only read; copies between tools go into ecadlib's hub library.
Review queue
Parts the library agent found and built. Each one is checked against its datasheet. Look at the before and after pictures and the proof, then approve, reject or ask for a rebuild. An approval is also recorded in the part's plan (approvals_audit.jsonl), so the release check and the Altium 365 push see it.
| Part | Change | Status | Proof | Batch | Updated (UTC) |
|---|
Footprint generator
IPC-7351B land patterns from datasheet dimensions. You preview each one; it is only saved (KiCad .kicad_mod and Altium .PcbLib) when you approve it.
