Other Instruments
*****************

This section of the example gallery showcases how to create and synthesize
other instruments using the line-list and response machinery in ``muse``.
While this machinery lives in ``muse``, it is actually instrument-neutral.
This is critical because validating models is key for MUSE; the same tools can
also benefit other instruments.

MUSE needs "test benches" of solar scenes to simulate observations. These scenes
let us prepare and debug the MUSE data pipeline, analysis, and quicklook tools
before launch. They also let the MUSE team test instrument requirements and guide
design decisions. Because MUSE is complex, some raw data will require
disambiguation before they can become science-ready. Test benches improve our
understanding of the outer solar atmosphere and show how faithfully it must be
modeled. Finally, they let us predict observations and, once data arrive,
interpret them and validate the models again.
