pyToCE third-party and data notices
==============================================

Project code
------------

The independently authored pyToCE source code is licensed under the
BSD 3-Clause License in LICENSE.

REMIND-MFA software
-------------------

The package downloads and invokes REMIND-MFA v0.2.0 at commit
bf95c898e0f6f363196bccb62d34e02d82e4726b. REMIND-MFA is licensed
GPL-3.0-only by its copyright holders. It is not copied into this source
distribution or wheel.

REMIND-MFA input data
---------------------

REMIND-MFA input data v1.0.0, revision
rev1.0.0_h12_1584d780_mfa, is published at
https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18019915 under CC BY-SA 4.0.

The package contains one compact Parquet serialization of the annual default
input table derived from that source. The format and row
ordering were changed for package installation; the scientific values and
coordinates were not changed. This file remains licensed CC BY-SA 4.0:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

The package generates a user-readable CSV from this compact source table
when a workspace is initialized. It does not distribute a second default-input
serialization.

The package also contains a compact regional 2019 waste trade share table
derived from the same REMIND-MFA input and its 2019 default output. It records
import and export mass divided by local collected waste before trade for each
H12 region, together with the source and balanced flow reference
amounts needed to interpret that ratio. The table is a pyToCE
transformation distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0; it does not replace or modify
the REMIND-MFA source data or equations.

AESA PB-LCIA
------------

The package downloads AESA PB-LCIA 0.9.2 from branch ei_312 at commit
00003e27a04bfc5662bf561cf7a092ba5324d67c under BSD-3-Clause. The package
retains only the authorized ten-category selection and source metadata.
Resolved factors and biosphere links remain in the user workspace.

Global open burning and non-burned waste shares
------------------------------------------------

The package calculates global open burning and non-burned waste shares from
Cottom, Cook, and Velis (2024), *A local-to-global emissions inventory of
macroplastic pollution*, Nature 633, 101-108, DOI
10.1038/s41586-024-07758-6, and its Dryad dataset, DOI
10.5061/dryad.8cz8w9gxb. Dryad publishes datasets under the CC0 instrument.
pyToCE distributes the calculated fate shares, route selections and
material mappings. It does not redistribute the article or the 1.45 GB Dryad
dataset. The open-dump infiltration weights have a separate licensed source:
preparation derives them once from the ecoinvent 3.12 RoW polyethylene waste
market and saves them only in the prepared workspace. They are not Cottom data
and are not covered by the Dryad CC0 instrument.

The package models the non-burned remainder with an open dump LCI; it is not a
measured H12 dumping share. The treatment activities and their exchanges remain
in each licensed Brightway workspace.

ecoinvent
---------

ecoinvent 3.12 Allocation, cut-off by classification, and the ecoinvent 3.12
LCIA implementation workbook are user-supplied licensed inputs. They are
not distributed by pyToCE. Generated activity codes, exchanges,
crosswalks, matrices, characterization factors, and other licensed derivatives
remain in the prepared workspace.

Methane density source
----------------------

The direct air capture methane inventory uses the NIST Chemistry
WebBook, Standard Reference Database 69 (DOI 10.18434/T4D303), implementation
of the Setzmann–Wagner methane equation of state (DOI 10.1063/1.555898). The package
uses the reported pure-methane density of 0.67983 kg/m3 at 288.15 K and
0.101325 MPa only to convert the DAC methane service between mass and the
ecoinvent standard-volume unit. It is not used for another methane route,
emission, yield, or inventory adjustment.

USLCI/ACC ABS unit-process data
-------------------------------

The retained USLCI ABS attribution identifies the non-confidential North
American unit process in USLCI 1.2026-06.0. The source process is UUID
0e42a306-ee2d-362e-8bc3-580000096459, version 00.01.009, at data-repository
commit a900b507109a80c21db983e5f13f283f4a84aa51:

The ACC (2022) report is identified indirectly via the consulted USLCI
publication-source metadata above; the original report text was not consulted.

The American Chemistry Council owns the source data; Eastern Research Group
generated and documented them. The current pyToCE ABS inventory uses the
continuous-mass formulation and process-energy sources described in
methodological_notes/recommended_citations.txt. It is not reconstructed from
this USLCI unit process.
