    The sidebar form (Furo's own) submits to search.html?q=... in both cases. Over http or
    https the page loads the Pagefind UI, whose index (pagefind/, written by
    `npx --yes pagefind@1.5.2 --site docs/_build/html` after the Sphinx build) it fetches.
    Browsers refuse such fetches from a page opened with file://, so a downloaded copy uses
    Sphinx's search instead, which reads searchindex.js as a script. A served copy whose
    Pagefind files are missing falls back to Sphinx's search as well. -#}
