# kimpton-evalrouter-sdk has been renamed to evalrouter

The EvalRouter CLI and Python SDK are now published as
[`evalrouter`](https://pypi.org/project/evalrouter/). This is the final release
of `kimpton-evalrouter-sdk`. It contains no code and only installs
`evalrouter` at the same version, so existing installations keep working.
Future releases are published only as `evalrouter`.

The `evalrouter` command, the `kimpton_evalrouter` import and every API are
unchanged. Only the package name changed.

## Switch to the new name

With uv:

```sh
uv tool uninstall kimpton-evalrouter-sdk
uv tool install --python 3.12 evalrouter
```

With pip, remove both names first so that neither uninstall deletes files the
other one installed:

```sh
pip uninstall -y kimpton-evalrouter-sdk evalrouter
pip install evalrouter
```

Offline benchmark authoring uses `pip install 'evalrouter[benchmark]'`.

## If `pip install --upgrade kimpton-evalrouter-sdk` broke the command

pip installs `evalrouter` before it removes the old release, and removing the
old release deletes files the two share. If `evalrouter` stopped working after
that upgrade, restore it with:

```sh
pip install --force-reinstall --no-deps evalrouter
```

`uv tool upgrade kimpton-evalrouter-sdk` and `uv pip install --upgrade` are not
affected.
