# sbnote

`sbnote` is a beginner-friendly Python library for composing complete pieces of
music with compact beat and melody strings. It builds a musical timeline in
Python and renders actual WAV audio through Supriya and SuperCollider.

```bash
pip install sbnote
```

[SuperCollider](https://supercollider.github.io/) is a separate system
requirement. After installing it, run `sbnote doctor`.

```python
from sbnote import Song
song = Song(120)
song.beat("kick", "x---x---x---x---")
song.beat("snare", "----x-------x---")
lead = song.synth("sine")
lead.melody("C4---E4--- [G4A4B4]3 C5-----", division=16)
song.render("beat.wav")
```

See [USAGE.md](USAGE.md) for the guided manual and
[API_REFERENCE.md](API_REFERENCE.md) for every public class, method, function,
argument, and notation form.
