# systemd-pyqt-ask-password-agent

In systemd, non-interactive services can ask the user for a password. This is made of 2 parts:

- background service queries a password for example by running `systemd-ask-password --no-tty`
- user-facing client (called "agent" in systemd parlance) asks the password

`systemd-pyqt-ask-password-agent` is an desktop app that sits in the notification tray most of the time.
When a service requests a password using systemd, systemd-pyqt-ask-password-agent pops a password dialog to the user, and sends it back to the service.

## How to run it

Once installed, just `systemd-pyqt-ask-password-agent` is enough.
It's also possible to run it through systemd, for example with `systemd-run --user --collect -u pyqt-pwd-agent --property=SyslogIdentifier=pyqt-pwd-agent --same-dir systemd-pyqt-ask-password-agent`.
