    How to get your free Adzuna keys
                
      
                  
    1. Open developer.adzuna.com and register. It is free; for the website field your GitHub or LinkedIn profile is fine.

    2. Confirm the email Adzuna sends you, then log in.

    3. Your developer dashboard shows two values: Application ID (short, 8 characters) and Application Key (long, 32 characters).

    How to get your free TheirStack key
                
      
                  
    1. Open theirstack.com and sign up for free. Google sign in works.

    AI model
    The AI scores each job against your CV and writes your CV and cover letter. It only uses facts from your CV. Without one, scoring uses keywords and letters come from a template.
    
            
    
              
              
              
            
    
            
    
            
    Set up Ollama
      
              
    1. Download Ollama from ollama.com/download and install it like any app.
      2. 
              
    2. Open a terminal (on Windows: PowerShell) and run ollama pull qwen3.5:4b. On an older computer use ministral-3:3b; with 16 GB memory or more, qwen3.5:9b writes better.

    Set up LM Studio
      
              
    1. Install LM Studio from lmstudio.ai and download a model inside it, for example Qwen3.5 4B.

    Get a Claude API key
      
              
    1. Sign in at console.anthropic.com.

      Create an app password
      Open App passwords, type the name Stellenpilot and press Create. Google shows 16 letters: copy them. It is a separate password just for Stellenpilot; you can delete it there at any time.

      Not Gmail? GMX, web.de and others
                  
      GMX, web.de, Yahoo, t-online, Posteo, mailbox.org and iCloud work too. First switch on IMAP in your mail settings; if your account uses 2-Step Verification, create an app password there as well. For other providers, enter the IMAP server from their help pages.       A small add on from Google, installed once. Run this in the terminal where you installed Stellenpilot, then press Check again.

      Google wants every app that reads Gmail to have its own key. It takes about 10 minutes, once.

      1. Open console.cloud.google.com and create a project. Any name works, for example Stellenpilot.

      2. Go to APIs and Services, Library, search for Gmail API and press Enable.

      3. Go to OAuth consent screen. Choose External, fill in an app name and your email, and add your own Gmail address as a test user. Leave the app in Testing.

    3. Connect with your key file
      A Google page opens in your browser. Pick your account and allow read only access. Google warns that the app is not verified, because it is your own private app: press Advanced, then continue. In Testing mode Google asks again about once a week.
