The pre-departure health check is a mandatory medical assessment conducted by Pelorus Voyages medical staff at Earth Launch Terminal 7, Medical Suite B, within 72 hours before the departure window opens. It is separate from and in addition to the physician-issued medical clearance that must be obtained before booking. The pre-departure check cannot be completed more than 72 hours before departure and cannot be completed remotely or at a third-party facility.

The check takes approximately 20 minutes and consists of a brief physical assessment: blood pressure, resting heart rate, oxygen saturation, a visual inspection for acute signs of illness, and a confirmation that the passenger is not experiencing any new symptoms since the physician clearance was issued. The Pelorus Voyages medical technician does not conduct a full examination — that is the physician's role. The pre-departure check is specifically designed to catch changes in health status that have occurred since the clearance was issued, not to repeat the clearance assessment.

Passengers who present at the pre-departure health check with symptoms of an acute respiratory infection — including fever above 37.5 degrees Celsius, significant productive cough, or oxygen saturation below 95 percent — will not be cleared to board. The departure will be considered a voluntary cancellation; standard cancellation fees apply unless the passenger pursues a medical disqualification claim, which requires physician documentation of the specific condition. The Pelorus Voyages medical technician cannot issue a disqualification letter; only the passenger's physician can initiate the medical disqualification refund process.

The pre-departure health check result is transmitted directly to the vessel's flight surgeon. Passengers do not receive a copy of the result, but are informed verbally of pass or fail at the time of the check. The result is recorded in the passenger's voyage medical file.

Passengers should arrive at Terminal 7 with enough time to complete the health check, proceed through biometric check-in, and reach Gate 22 before the three-hour pre-departure muster deadline. For most passengers, arriving at the terminal four hours before the departure window provides adequate time. Passengers with mobility requirements that slow the terminal transit should arrive five hours in advance; Pelorus Voyages accessibility support can arrange terminal assistance on request.
