The following are not covered by standard Pelorus Voyages travel insurance. Passengers who need coverage for any of these situations should review the Extraction Coverage add-on or consult a third-party space travel insurance provider before departure.

Voluntary missed departures are not covered. Any situation in which the passenger was physically capable of returning to the vessel by the muster deadline but did not do so — including excursion overruns, personal decisions to extend a surface stay, failure to monitor time, and equipment delays within the passenger's control — constitutes a voluntary missed departure. The insurance policy does not cover charter extraction costs, next-itinerary pickup fares, or any other costs resulting from a voluntary missed departure.

Launch scrubs caused by solar weather are not covered under standard insurance. Pelorus Voyages covers scrubs caused by vessel technical issues and regulatory holds, but solar particle events, coronal mass ejection warnings, and other space weather events that trigger a scrub are classified as acts of nature and are excluded from the standard policy. Passengers concerned about solar weather risk should inquire about the Extended Scrub Rider available as an add-on.

Pre-existing conditions that were not declared at the time of insurance purchase are not covered. A condition is considered pre-existing if the passenger had received a diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice related to it in the 12 months prior to the insurance purchase date. Conditions that were declared and for which a physician confirmed fitness to travel are covered as described in the coverage document.

Voluntary mission abort is not covered. If a passenger chooses to leave the voyage mid-itinerary for reasons other than a documented medical emergency — including personal preference, family circumstances, or dissatisfaction with the voyage — the cost of return transport and any unused voyage days are not reimbursable under standard insurance.

Activities conducted outside of Pelorus Voyages-operated or Pelorus Voyages-approved excursions are not covered. Passengers who arrange independent surface activities at any stop, or who participate in excursions operated by third-party operators not contracted with Pelorus Voyages, do so at their own risk.

Loss or damage caused by failure to follow Pelorus Voyages safety instructions, crew directives, or heritage site preservation rules is not covered. This includes fines or penalties imposed by planetary heritage authorities for violations at protected sites such as Tranquility Base Heritage Site or the Shepard Shot Marker at Fra Mauro.
