A launch scrub occurs when Pelorus Voyages postpones or cancels a departure after the passenger has completed check-in at the Earth launch terminal. Scrubs are declared by the vessel captain or by Pelorus Voyages mission control and may be caused by vessel technical issues, adverse space weather, regulatory holds, or conditions at a destination stop that make safe transit impractical. Scrubs are never declared lightly — they affect the orbital transfer window for all subsequent legs and require significant operational rescheduling.

When a scrub is declared, passengers have two options. The first is a full refund of all amounts paid, including any non-refundable deposits. The refund is processed within the standard timeline for the passenger's payment method and does not incur any cancellation fee regardless of how close to the departure window the scrub is called. The second option is a voyage credit equal to 110 percent of the total amount paid, applied to the passenger's Pelorus Voyages account for use on any future booking within 24 months of the scrub date. The 10 percent bonus credit is Pelorus Voyages's acknowledgment of the inconvenience.

Passengers must elect their preferred option — refund or credit — within 14 days of the scrub notification. If no election is made within 14 days, a full refund is processed automatically.

Orbital Points earned on the scrubbed voyage are held in the passenger's loyalty account for 90 days from the scrub date. If the passenger rebooks within that 90-day hold period, the points are transferred to the new booking. If no rebooking occurs within 90 days, the held points are returned to the passenger's general Orbital Points balance and remain usable as standard loyalty currency.

A scrub is distinct from a cancelled voyage. A scrub affects a single departure date and Pelorus Voyages will reschedule the voyage for the next available alignment window. A cancelled voyage — where Pelorus Voyages discontinues an itinerary entirely — is governed by a separate policy and will be communicated directly to affected passengers with additional compensation terms.

Passengers should note that adverse solar weather — including solar particle events that exceed radiation exposure thresholds — is among the conditions that may trigger a scrub. Standard travel insurance includes scrub coverage for vessel technical issues and regulatory holds. Solar weather scrubs may be excluded from standard insurance coverage; passengers should review their policy documents. The Extraction Coverage add-on does not affect scrub coverage.
