Pelorus Voyages welcomes families with children aged 5 and above on all itineraries. Children under 5 are not permitted on any Pelorus Voyages voyage; this is an absolute limit that cannot be waived. The minimum age applies at the departure date, not the booking date — a child who turns 5 between booking and departure is eligible to travel.

All passengers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is a co-passenger on the same booking. A minor may not travel as the sole young person in a booking with unrelated adults unless a legal guardian relationship is documented. The accompanying adult is jointly responsible for the minor's participation in all onboard activities and excursions, adherence to safety instructions, and timely return to the vessel at every muster deadline.

Children aged 5 to 11 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times on surface excursions. They may not participate in excursions independently. Children aged 12 and above may participate in age-eligible excursions without a parent present during the excursion, provided a parent or guardian co-signed the excursion waiver at check-in.

Several excursions have specific minimum ages that differ from the general voyage minimum. The glass floor tour at Venus requires a minimum age of 8. The gondola descent at Venus, The Leap at Ceres, and the Mars EVA surface excursions require a minimum age of 16. These limits are firm and cannot be overridden by parental consent or waiver. The Titan ice flats excursion requires a minimum age of 12. The Olympus Mons Caldera Rim hike requires a minimum age of 18 and is Pathfinder class-only; this is in practice an adult-only excursion. Full age requirements by activity are listed in the age requirements document.

Families should consider how the muster deadline requirements interact with children's pacing. Children on surface excursions in low gravity — particularly at Ceres and the Moon — may tire faster than expected or may not accurately self-report readiness to return. Pelorus Voyages guides are experienced with family groups in low-gravity environments, but parents bear primary responsibility for monitoring their children's condition and returning to the vessel on time. The vessel will not delay departure for a child any more than for an adult.

Families travelling with children who have specific medical needs should contact Pelorus Voyages accessibility support before booking to ensure the medical bay inventory and the voyage environment can support those needs.
