Photography is welcome and encouraged at all Pelorus Voyages destinations. Most stops have no restrictions beyond common courtesy. The exceptions are the heritage protection sites, where specific rules apply and violations carry formal consequences.

At Tranquility Base Heritage Site, the following photography rules apply under the Outer Space Heritage Preservation Act of 2041 and the Lunar Heritage Authority access agreement. Photography from the marked perimeter is permitted without restriction and is the primary activity for most visitors. Flash photography is prohibited within 50 metres of the heritage boundary flagging. Drone or remotely piloted aircraft of any kind are prohibited within the entire heritage zone, which extends 2 kilometres beyond the visible perimeter. Laser pointers or laser range-finding equipment may not be directed at the flag, the Lunar Module descent stage, or any other heritage object.

At the Fra Mauro zone (Lunar Golf Links area), the same drone prohibition applies within 500 metres of the Shepard Shot Marker. Approach within 20 metres of the Shepard Shot Marker is prohibited; photography is permitted from beyond that distance.

At the Cydonia Formation complex on Mars, photography is permitted from designated viewing areas. Drone use within the Cydonia Category B scientific preservation zone is prohibited without a research permit issued by the Mars Surface Heritage Authority. Personal drones above 500 grams are prohibited entirely in the preservation zone; sub-500-gram recreational drones require advance notification to the Cydonia site coordinator.

Consequences for violations are significant. A violation of photography or drone rules at Tranquility Base or Fra Mauro is reported immediately to the Lunar Heritage Authority by the tour guide. Consequences range from permanent exclusion from heritage sites to criminal prosecution under the OSHPA 2041, which carries fines and in serious cases custodial sentences. Pelorus Voyages is legally required to report violations and does not have discretion to decline reporting.

Personal camera and lens equipment is included in the passenger's personal mass allowance with no separate exemption. Camera bodies and lenses count toward the allowance; a full interchangeable-lens camera kit can easily represent 3 to 5 kilograms of a Pioneer passenger's 12-kilogram limit. Passengers planning extensive photography should factor equipment weight into their packing decision and consider cabin class upgrade for additional allowance.
