NOTICE

This project combines three kinds of material under different terms.

1. Code (mathgen/, scripts/, tests/) and everything else in the repository
   that items 2 and 3 do not cover: MIT licence. See LICENSE.
   Copyright (c) 2026 Jondi Haynes.

2. Skill definitions (skills/): CC BY 4.0. See LICENSE-CONTENT.
   Copyright (c) 2026 Jondi Haynes.

3. Australian Curriculum material quoted or adapted in some skill files, and
   quoted in many code comments, docstrings and tests: ACARA's own CC BY 4.0
   licence, with the attribution below. This licence applies to the ACARA
   text itself, wherever it appears, and is not changed by the licences
   above. A code comment, docstring or test that quotes ACARA text is
   otherwise MIT; the quoted words stay under CC BY 4.0 on ACARA's terms.

Senior secondary curriculum descriptors in this package are derived from the
Australian Curriculum (Senior Secondary Version 8.4). F-10 (Version 9.0)
skills use ACARA codes as tags; their names and descriptions are this
project's own wording (see "Which files carry ACARA text" below).

(c) Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) 2010 to
present, unless otherwise indicated. This material was downloaded from the
Australian Curriculum website (https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au)
(accessed 8 September 2026) and was modified. The four senior secondary
mathematics subject pages (Version 8.4) were downloaded from the archived
Version 8 site, https://v8.australiancurriculum.edu.au (accessed 8 September
2026). The senior secondary skill names and descriptions derived from ACARA
descriptors were changed as follows:

  - most names have the initial letter capitalised and the final full stop
    dropped;
  - curly quotation marks are straightened;
  - where a descriptor has several clauses or examples, the name is shortened
    (some names stop part-way through the descriptor);
  - mathematical notation is simplified to plain text, for example
    \(x^2\) becomes x^2 and \(\frac{a}{b}\) becomes a/b; some names still
    keep the original LaTeX notation;
  - some names are reworded in this project's own words, keeping the topic
    of the descriptor; a few carry small transcription slips (punctuation,
    stray spacing, a dropped letter or a dropped word);
  - in many descriptions the descriptor, lower-cased, is embedded in a
    template sentence ("Given bounded, fully specified inputs, ...");
    other descriptions are this project's own wording.

Curriculum' page of the Australian Curriculum website.

package is not affiliated with, sponsored or approved by ACARA. It is up to
each person to make their own assessment of this package, taking into account
matters including, but not limited to, the version number and the degree to
which the materials align with the content descriptions and achievement
standards (where relevant). Where this package claims alignment, it aligns
with the content descriptions and achievement standards, not the elaborations.

Which files carry ACARA text:

  - Skill files for the senior secondary curriculum (ids starting
    "senior-"): the name, and in many files the description, are modified
    ACARA descriptors as described above. Each of these files starts with a
    comment saying so. The ids and file names of these skills are lowercase
    slugs of the (shortened) descriptor, and some carry a tag that is a short
    hyphenated phrase from it.
  - Code comments, docstrings and tests: many quote ACARA descriptor words
    (Version 8.4, and in a few places Version 9.0), for example to say which
    descriptor a generator or test is for. Quotes may be shortened or
    re-cased. The quoted words are ACARA's, remain under CC BY 4.0 on ACARA's
    terms, and are credited by this NOTICE.
  - Codes: ACARA content description codes (for example ACMSM104 and
    AC9M2N03) appear as tags, in lower case or upper case (acmsm104,
    ac9m2n03, ACMSM072).
    Codes also appear in the ids and descriptions of some senior secondary
    skills, and in code comments and tests. A code is an identifier, not
    curriculum text.
  - F-10 skills (ids starting "f10-" and a few others tagged acara-f10-v9):
    names and descriptions are this project's own wording. They may share
    ordinary phrases with the curriculum (for example "Represent and order
    numbers to 120"), and carry ACARA codes in tags only.

Everything else in this package, including generated questions, answers,
distractors, misconceptions, skill structure and mappings, is the project's
own work and is not ACARA material.

Exclusions: what this package does not contain
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CC BY licence on the Australian Curriculum website does not cover, and
this package does not include:

  - the ACARA, Australian Curriculum, Australian Government or Education
    Services Australia logos, or other trade-mark protected material;
  - the design of the Australian Curriculum website;
  - photographs, videos, or resources used to support teachers implementing
    the curriculum;
  - the National Literacy Learning Progressions (CC BY-NC 4.0);
  - material owned by third parties and reproduced on the website with
    permission.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural content from curriculum
elaborations or examples is not included.

Other
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some skills carry an "alignments" field. Each entry holds a source id naming a
university course list or catalogue (for example "mit-subject-catalogue"), a
status, a framework id and a short topic area slug such as "abstract-algebra".
It carries no text from those sources: only these identifiers, written by this
project. The framework id refers to a framework file that is not part of this
repository. The institutions are not affiliated with this project.

Runtime dependencies are installed separately and keep their own licences:
SymPy (BSD-3-Clause), NumPy (BSD-3-Clause), mpmath (BSD-3-Clause), PyYAML
(MIT).
