{# Rubin Observatory page footer, rendered through the theme's footer_start slot in place of the default copyright/sphinx-version/theme-version components. Contains the site's citations, then the footer every Rubin guide shares: the project link inventory, the copyright statement, the agency funding statement, and the funding-partner logo lineup. #}

{#- The BibTeX entry, offered to be copied rather than downloaded, the way GitHub, Zenodo, and ADS offer one: a reader pastes it into a .bib file they already keep, and one composed entry feeding one rendering cannot drift the way a generated file can. The holds the only
copy of it, so rubin-citation-copy.js reads the text from there
rather than from a duplicated data- payload, and the entry stays
selectable on a page whose script never runs. The card the
citation-card directive renders carries the same markup, under its
own block class, so the two surfaces read identically.
Nothing may separate from the entry: whitespace inside a
is content, and a stray newline is a leading blank line in
what the reader copies. #}

{% endif %}The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science will support Rubin Observatory in its operations phase to carry out the Legacy Survey of Space and Time. They will also provide support for scientific research with the data. During operations, NSF funding is managed by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) under a cooperative agreement with NSF, and DOE funding is managed by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC), under contract by DOE. Rubin Observatory is operated by NSF NOIRLab and SLAC.
NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science. NSF supports basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.
The DOE Office of Science is the single largest supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the United States and is working to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
