Accounts and transactions

Account type — every account is one of seven types: Cash (bank, e-wallet, physical cash), Fixed deposit, Investment (brokerage or crypto exchange), Retirement, Receivable (money someone owes you), Credit (card, buy-now-pay-later, line of credit) and Loan. The type decides whether the account counts as spendable cash, whether it’s part of your budget, and where it shows in your net worth. See Accounts and opening balances.

Base currency — the one currency every total and report is shown in. Accounts can hold any currency. See Base currency and FX.

Book — all of your financial data together: accounts, transactions, budget, holdings and Lucius’s memory. One book lives in one working folder. See Where your files live.

Cash on hand — the total of your Cash-type accounts. The same number on every screen. See Net worth.

Cleared — a transaction you’ve confirmed against your bank or card statement.

In budget — Cash and Credit accounts are part of your budget (they fund or draw on Ready to Assign); every other type sits outside it. Decided by the account type, not a per-account switch.

Kind — what a transaction is: an expense, income, a transfer between two of your accounts, a balance adjustment, or an investment buy/sell. See The ledger.

Payee — who you paid or who paid you. A payee can carry a default category, so its transactions get categorized automatically.

Split — one transaction divided across several categories.

Starting Balance — the first transaction in an account: what it held on the day you started tracking it. See Accounts and opening balances.

Transfer — money moving between two of your own accounts. One transaction with both ends, so it never counts as spending or income.

Uncategorized — a transaction with no category. A normal, valid state — nothing breaks if you leave it. See Categories.

Budgeting (Plan)

Category — a label on a transaction (“Groceries”). See Categories.

Envelope — a pot of budgeted money in Plan. One or more categories link to it, and their spending draws it down. See Envelopes and budgeting.

Assigned — money you’ve put into an envelope for the month.

Activity — what was spent from (or refunded into) an envelope this month.

Available — what’s left in an envelope right now: carried over from last month, plus assigned, minus spent. Red means overspent.

Ready to Assign — cash in your budget that hasn’t been given to an envelope yet. Your goal is to get it to zero by assigning it.

Move money — shift money between two envelopes, or between an envelope and Ready to Assign.

Target — a goal on an envelope: Set aside an amount each period, Fill up to an amount, or Have a balance of an amount by a date.

Credit card payment envelope — an envelope the app creates for each credit card. When you spend on the card from a funded envelope, that money moves here, ready to pay the bill.

Commitment — a dated obligation, like a purchase plan or a loan repayment schedule, with its own funding envelope. See Commitments.

Investing

Holding or position — how much of one stock, fund, coin or other asset you hold in one account.

Lot — one purchase inside a holding, with its own date, quantity and cost.

Cost basis — what you paid for a lot, fees included.

Realized gain — profit or loss locked in when you sell. Unrealized gain — the difference between what an unsold holding is worth now and what you paid.

Settlement cash — the cash balance inside an investment account. It counts as part of your investments, not your cash on hand. A negative one means you’re borrowing on margin.

Unvested — company shares you’ve been granted but don’t own yet. Shown separately and left out of net worth until they vest. See Equity compensation.

Liquid now / Delayed / Illiquid — the Dashboard’s split of your assets by how soon you could use them: cash and freely sellable holdings; things that are yours but not reachable yet (like vested shares not yet delivered); and things like property, retirement funds and fixed deposits before maturity.

Lucius

Lucius — the AI assistant built into the app. See Lucius.

Connector — a link to an outside service: email, Telegram, a bank or broker, web search. Each one is off until you add it. See the Connectors section of this help.

Automation — a job Lucius runs on a schedule without you, such as logging transactions from your email. See Automations.

Always allow / Needs approval / Blocked — the three permission levels for each action Lucius can take. See Permissions.

Confirm card — the card Lucius shows before a change, with what will happen and buttons to approve or reject it. See Confirm cards.

Checkpoint — a snapshot the app takes before Lucius changes your data, so the change can be undone.

Skill — saved instructions that teach Lucius how to do a specific task your way. See Skills.
