Dmidecode is a full-featured robust utility for parsing SMBIOS tables. It was
orginally written for x86 systems and extended to support ia64 and x86-64
platforms. SMBIOS exposes harware information. There are certain gaps in
dmidecode's support of a few HP Integrity Linux systems and hpmodel attempts
to create a simple commandline utility for uniformly displaying the high-level
hardware information including items such as system serial number, UUID, model
name, model version, platform type and hardware manufacturer. This product
is supported across the entire Integrity Linux product line.
